English post-punk pioneers Siouxsie and the Banshees influenced a generation of musicians—from contemporaries Joy Division and the Cure, to later alternative acts like Radiohead and LCD Soundsystem. Formed in London in 1976 by vocalist Siouxsie Sioux and bassist Steven Severin, the Banshees scored a hit with their first single, “Hong Kong Garden,” whose combination of a catchy xylophone riff and Sioux’s unique delivery captured a generation of fans.
